The Mirror (On Reflection)

The Mirror looks at You and Me.
Tell me What in hell,
does the Mirror see?

Hair out of place.
OH what a shame.
Do our sleeves hang about the same?

Is that a SPOT, perhaps a MOLE?
Maybe a blemish on the Eternal Soul.

Perhaps we could do with a nip’n’tuck.
Cover our skin in slimy muck.
Cucumber on the eyes my dear?
My word, who said that you look queer.

Pull that face a little to the right.
Yes, you’re in the perfect light.
Dont move!
Stay just as you are.
You’re the best thing,
You’ve seen, by far.

Now listen hard.
Can you hear a snigger?
Look into the Mirror.
Are your ears getting bigger?
A few more lines, a bag or two?
Is the Mirror playing a joke on YOU?

What’s up?
Don’t want to be ‘normal’?
So you want to be a FREAK.
Is that all?

So BE ashamed of WHO you are.
No-one cares but YOU.
Look again into the Mirror.
You’ll see there’s YOU, and YOU.

So, who sniggers from the mirror
when you ‘poise’ and ‘pose’?
Is it YOU?

YOU have the final word.

A Tribute To Maxi Quartermain.

Ello Darlin’,
Ello love,
Super ‘Od’s me name.
Makin’ loads-a-money,
an’ workin’ ard’s me game.

When I was at school,
I made meself a promise.
I was gonna be rich some day,
I knew me brain was ‘addled,
but it didn’t matter anyway.

I ‘ad a will of iron,
that no-one could grind down.
When I left school and went to work,
I really went to town.

When every one ‘ad finished
I would stay back late.
Making sure that next day
we’d cop a better rate.

I knew that time was on me side
and if I used it right,
I would be rewarded
with the ‘gold’and all it’s might.

I’ve grafted ‘ard every day
to earn the extra quids.
I’ve provided very well
for me wife and me kids.

Me flash cars, flash house,
Golf and swimming pools,
are now me reward
for ignoring all the fools.

Still, I’ve got me knockers,
who think that I’m a waster.
They think I live off ill-gotten-gain.
But there’s at least a thousand men out there
who’ve witnessed me strength,
me will of iron, and me pain.

So let me tell you darlin’s
who are leaving school just now.
Time is on your side,
use it like I’ve shown you how.
Work ‘ard, no matter ‘ow it ‘urts
and you will be rewarded.

Don’t take out credit,
save your pounds.
Picture your ‘ouse in it’s ramblin’ grounds.
Picture your pool in the sun.
Your race ‘orse run.
Your flash car turnin’ the ‘eds.
Pretty soon me darlin’s
you’ll be rollin’ in money beds.

Waste your time like all the rest,
and ‘the rest’ is who you’ll be.
Stand out from the crowd
an’ be your own ‘self’.
‘Yourself’ is who they’ll all see.

Be tough, determined,
and as honest as you can.
Don’t fall for the ‘Scams’ of the ‘political man’.
Focus your mind and visualise.
It’s all there for YOU,
except the stars in the skies.

The ‘Poets Lodge’ Introduces The Seven Deadly Sins

We – collectively known as the Human Race, have been given laws and conditions to live by if we want to enjoy the Nirvana that is … this Planet Earth.

We are not however, given a list of things we ‘should‘ do as that list would go on forever and confuse too many – rather – we have been given a list of things we must ‘never‘ do. That list is called ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ and is called that for a very specific reason. I don’t believe that there is a human alive who can honestly say that in their own quietest moments they wouldn’t totally agree with ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ and would love to have the strength of mind – willpower to be able to consciously adhere to all of them.

Below, are ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ laid out to remind ourself of the things we ‘should’ be on our guard against at all times. Take a look through in the privacy of your own mind and I guarantee you’ll say “I know it’s right, but it is Sooo difficult to live by these guidelines”.

Pride is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Now – it’s no surprise that every single person who takes the time to read through and seriously consider those Seven Deadly Sins will each have interpreted them to mean something entirely differently to conform to their own individual personalty, wants and needs. That’s not too bad a thing as our individuality is our saving grace as a species on this planet. Sadly, it rather complicates the comprehension of the laws that govern the Human Race as a successful inhabitant of our World.

Religion – The number ONE cause of so much conflict in the world since the concept was first ‘imagined’ however many thousand years ago.
Yes – even more than politics.

Yet religion ‘should’ be the one thing that binds humanity if the various scriptures are to be believed. There can, by definition, only be ONE God, but because of that little ‘trait’ we all have called ‘interpretation’ different forms of that one God have had to be invented or created by ‘US’ – We Humans, that cannot possibly have claim to that power no matter how clever or righteous we may feel we are.

There has to be a binding gel, an emulsifier of thoughts and deeds that can unite mankind into the loving, caring and considerate race intended for us when we reach our Nirvana.
That binding gel, that emulsifier is?? …… (Tell EveryOne Your Thoughts – in the comments below).
